Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Temporary Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations within our adult care home facility. This is a crucial role that combines culinary expertise with an understanding of the unique nutritional and dietary requirements of elderly and vulnerable residents. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

As Temporary Head Chef, you will take full ownership of the kitchen operations, managing all aspects of menu planning, food preparation, kitchen staff supervision, and compliance with care sector regulations. This position requires someone who can step into the role immediately and make a positive impact from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Menu Planning and Food Preparation

  • Design and implement varied, nutritious, and appetizing menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs and preferences of elderly residents
  • Accommodate special dietary requirements including diabetic, low sodium, pureed, soft texture, and culturally specific diets
  • Ensure all meals meet nutritional guidelines specific to the care sector and support residents' health conditions
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to the highest culinary standards
  • Create appealing meal presentations that stimulate appetite, particularly for residents with reduced food intake
  • Develop seasonal menus that incorporate fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible
  • Maintain recipe documentation and portion control standards

Kitchen Management and Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the kitchen team, including sous chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants
